Sometimes ambition is misunderstood and considered to be a bad quality rather than a good one. In my experience, ambition is what motivates people to achieve great things; without it, nothing extraordinary would ever be accomplished.
Ambition is one of the best qualities anyone can have.
They know what they want, have specific goals, and work extremely hard to achieve them. They welcome and enjoy challenges because they know they are necessary for progress and learning. As a result, ambitious people take control of their destiny and do not expect others to cater to their needs. They have tenacity and determination. They understand where they are going and what they must do to get there. They are capable of changing and living up to their dreams, and they are always on the lookout for opportunities that are available to those who are willing to see and seize them.
Ambition is the most important driver of personal growth and development. No one can succeed without healthy ambition. Those who want to be more, know more, do more, give more or have more have a purpose and a strong inner drive that makes them dream and go further. Ambition also propels them forward and achieve their goals. Goal-oriented and values-supported ambitions reflect healthy self-esteem and a higher capacity for abstraction and vision for the future. Ambitious people have a twinkle in their eyes as they approach their goals. They vibrate at a higher level and have an infectious enthusiasm to get things done. They motivate and inspire others.
It is important to note that ambition does not imply a lack of values or ethics. Neither is it a lack of control or being manipulative, as many in Western civilization believe. We don’t value ambition here. We fear and distrust it almost as much as we fear and distrust the success of others. We are prone to mistaking it for unchecked ambition. It’s as if every ambitious person was born with the ability and willingness to harm others. capable of doing anything and running over anyone to get their way. However, this does not preclude those with a healthy and positive level of ambition from succeeding and doing good at the same time.
On the other hand, people who have no ambition ask very little out of life and that is what they get, little or nothing. They have no dreams, no vision, no direction, no definite intention, and as a result they achieve nothing. Some are conformists, others are passive or perhaps apathetic. Many of them are full of anger towards life, not understanding that it is precisely the lack of ambition that is destroying their future, moreover, they cannot imagine their future and therefore cannot create it themselves. People without ambition aren’t really honest with themselves, they don’t have the courage to take the risks necessary to succeed, and they don’t develop themselves to reach their potential. Unfortunately, it’s as if their wings are tied behind them and they don’t even realize it.
We must instill in our children the value of ambition and big dreams. They are the primary motivators of both individual and collective success. We also need to teach them that ambition can and should benefit others as well as society as a whole.
